Greenskies Seeks Partners in Advance of Energy Credit Auction

Press Release | Middletown, CT
June 4, 2013

Greenskies Renewable Energy LLC, a Middletown solar energy company, is seeking to form partnerships with corporate and municipal clients in Connecticut interested in reducing their energy costs and enhancing their green footprint by installing highly efficient solar photovoltaic arrays on their property at no cost.

Greenskies clients do not pay for the installation of their solar arrays. Instead, they sign 15- to 20-year power purchase agreements, or PPAs, in which they agree to purchase their electricity from Greenskies for the term of the contract at a discounted rate that will always be lower than the rate they would pay for conventional electric power.

The ideal client will have in excess of 75,000 square feet of shade-free roof space available or a minimum of 1.5 acres of shade-free ground space in close proximity to their facility.

Greenskies, a 5-year-old company that has designed and built solar installations that have produced more than 5 million kilowatt hours of energy, is seeking new partners in conjunction with Connecticut’s latest Zero-Emission Renewable Energy Credit, or ZREC, auction, which is scheduled to be held in mid-June. The ZREC/LREC program was created by the landmark energy reform bill passed by state legislators in 2011 (Public Act 11-80) to foster clean energy projects across the state at the lowest possible cost to ratepayers. The program is administered by Connecticut Light & Power and United Illuminating.
