Greenskies to Build Solar Installations at 2 Sites in Milford
Press Release | Middletown, CT
The Milford Board of Aldermen has approved two photovoltaic solar projects to be built at the Milford Public Library on New Haven Avenue and on a parcel of land at 1255 Oronoque Road near the Housatonic Treatment Facility by Greenskies Renewable Energy, a Middletown-based solar energy company.
Greenskies will build a 100-kilowatt solar array on the roof of the library building and a 250-kilowatt ballasted ground mounted facility on the grounds of the water treatment plant, said James Desantos, Greenskies’ vice president of business development and government relations.
Under the power-purchase agreement approved by the Board of Aldermen, Greenskies will design, develop, finance, own and maintain each the two solar installations for the next 20 years while the city agrees to purchase 100 percent of the electricity produced at the sites at a fixed and significantly discounted rate.
Greenskies hopes to start and complete construction of the two arrays in the latter part of 2015, Desantos said.
Greenskies designs, builds and maintains solar photovoltaic systems for corporate clients, municipalities and government agencies, educational institutions and utilities throughout the United States. Solar installations designed and built by Greenskies have now produced more than 12 million kilowatt hours of electric power.
