Greenskies Renewable Energy LLC in Middletown has completed the installation of solar arrays at four schools in Trumbull. The solar panels and other projects are expected to save the school system about $800,000 a year.

Greenskies, a solar energy developer based in Middletown, is building a 1.3 MW DC solar project at the old landfill. The solar farm, which will be comprised of about 4,000 solar panels on a 20-acre capped landfill site, will generate just under 1 megawatt of power per year.

When looking to make use of a full landfill, options are pretty limited. In East Haven, a solution for the landfill at 240 Commerce Street has been found: Greenskies, a Connecticut-based renewable energy company, will construct a solar farm that will generate electricity and revenue for the town, and possibly benefit area businesses.
