The Connecticut State Colleges and Universities (CSCU) is using solar to generate power to its campuses with the completion of the second of nine offsite solar systems.

Greenskies Clean Focus completed the second of nine offsite solar systems planned for the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities (CSCU). The 6.1-MW ground-mounted solar array in North Stonington, Conn., will save CSCU an estimated $9.4 million in energy costs within the first 20 years.

Through virtual net metering, a 6.1MW solar installation is expected to provide more than $9 million in energy savings for five Connecticut State Colleges and Universities (CSCU) campuses.

This month, Lafayette College took a major step toward advancing its carbon neutrality commitment pledge. As of March 1, the college’s on-campus solar array is operational on the roof of Kirby Sports Center.

Covenant Living of Cromwell, Conn., and Greenskies Clean Focus have teamed up to install a 159 kW solar energy system on the new Town Center building roof. In addition to reducing operating costs, this solar array will benefit the community in other ways.

Covenant Living of Cromwell has partnered with Greenskies Clean Focus and Titan Energy, a leading full-service energy consulting company, to install a 159-kW solar energy system on the new Town Center building roof.

The Town Center at Covenant Living of Cromwell, a continuing care retirement community in Connecticut, is committed to conserving energy and becoming more sustainable for the future while at the same time lowering operational expenses, according to Executive Director Dan Stegbauer.

Energy firm Greenskies Clean Focus, which is developing both projects, said the solar farms will be based on agricultural land, an intersection sometimes known as “agrivoltaics” or “agrisolar.”
