Toms River-based solar developer Eznergy Solar Energy Solutions has partnered with a Connecticut-based renewable energy firm to complete a solar portfolio for the Rumson Board of Education, they announced Tuesday.
Eznergy teamed with Greenskies Clean Focus to build the 490 kilowatt portfolio, which includes rooftop solar installations at Deane-Porter Elementary School and Forrestdale Middle School. The combined 1,225 solar panels are projected to generate more than 550,000 kilowatt-hours of clean energy, offsetting approximately 87-90% of the electricity needs of the schools, helping the district save on energy bills over the long term.
“Eznergy is pleased with the installation at Rumson Schools, which required some unique engineering and installation to provide clean solar energy to two schools from one rooftop system,” Jim Brown, president of Eznergy, said in a prepared statement. “We are glad that Eznergy was part of the energy savings project for the Rumson schools.”
John E. Bormann, superintendent of the Rumson schools, added: “The board of education is committed to leading by example with responsible energy procurement. Adding solar at Deane-Porter and Forrestdale not only helps reduce the district’s electricity costs and carbon footprint, but also helps boost the state’s clean energy portfolio with more renewable energy.”
Over a 15-year term, the projects will offset the carbon dioxide equivalent of taking about 1,300 cars off the road.
