Greenskies surpasses 100M kWh mark

Middletown's Greenskies Renewable Energy, which was recently ranked in the top 10 most prolific solar developers in the country, said its combined installations have generated more than 100 million kilowatt hours of electricity as of this month.
That amount of clean electricity is enough to offset approximately 156 million pounds of carbon dioxide emissions or power more than 13,000 average New England households for a year, said Greenskies, which was formed in 2008.
"The fact that we have gone from 5 million to 100 million kilowatt hours in just three years clearly marks us as a successful and rapidly growing force in the solar energy world," Michael Silvestrini, Greenskies' president and CEO, said in a statement.
The company has 160 solar installations in 10 states and says it plans to complete another 200 by the end of 2016.
