A crew from Solar Tight Installation (STI) including Luis Feliciano, Benjamin Rich, Alex Rodriquez, Wayne Triba – and others are hard at work installing a Greenskies Renewable Energy LLC ground-mounted solar array farm, going up on the Wesleyan University campus near playing fields at Long Lane and Wadsworth Street in Middletown, Connecticut.
In front of a backdrop of a clear blue sky, Medfield’s Energy and Facilities Manager, Andrew Seaman, addressed a small gathering at the Wastewater Treatment Plant. “We’re generating electricity,” he proudly said.
The city is aiming to bring in revenue from a currently unused piece of land and provide for the production of renewable energy. The City Council approved having a capped landfill become the site of a solar array Monday.
The council voted to authorize Mayor Elinor Carbone to lease the property at 105 Vista Drive to GRE GACRUX LLC., otherwise known as Greenskies Renewable Energy, a Middletown-based company.
