Director of Project Delivery - CA

Summary

The Director of Project Delivery will play a crucial role in overseeing the successful execution of renewable energy projects from inception to completion. This individual will lead a team of construction managers and project engineers, to ensure all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the specified quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of solar photovoltaic and energy storage systems, project management principles, and a proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects. This role reports to the VP of EPC.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Track key performance indicators for large portfolios of projects. Monitor budgets and schedules. Ensure projects meet all deadlines.
  • Oversee and manage the entire lifecycle from project award to full operation.
  • Lead a project team with dedicated engineering and construction resources to deliver the project on-time and on-budget.
  • Provide diligence related to projects acquired from other developers.
  • Analyze the pipeline and identify short- and long-term risks.
  • Perform pre-contract diligence of full-EPC partners. Negotiate design and installation standards while driving the timeline to a fully executed EPC agreement.
  • Act as the main point of contact for clients. Provide regular updates. Keep customer reps informed of design and construction progress, performance against milestones. Highlight issues and path to resolve them.
  • Flag any actual and potential critical path delays, including ordering of material to meet major milestone dates.
  • Take a data-driven approach. Provide guidance and push EPC team members to meet their commitments. Help team members establish plans to correct course.
  • Analyze contract and project financial documents. Ensure projects stay in compliance with all applicable contracts to avoid financial and other penalties.
  • Identify all unique EPC requirements and address them with the project team.
  • Assist project funding team to accomplish timely financing.

Qualifications:

  • Four-year degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related field.
  • 3+ years of professional project or portfolio management experience.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience reading, drafting, and negotiating contracts and legal documents.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently, exercise judgement, think critically, and take initiative
